  • I have braces – What candy can I eat this Easter?

If you’re worried that you won’t be able to enjoy your favorite candies and treats this Easter, then fear not! There are several of your favorite treats and more that you can have with your braces, and won’t provide much harm as long as you do some major cleaning afterwards. Our guests today have years of experience, and are experts in their field. Dr. Matthew Milestone and the professional staff at Milestone Orthodontics are here today to explain what you can and can’t have in order to make your Easter in Paramus, NJ a great one!

    Chocolate

Dr. Matthew Milestone says that chocolate is perfectly safe to eat with braces. Anything without hard nuts or sticky caramel should be just fine for you to enjoy. Some examples are M&Ms, chocolate Easter bunnies (hollow or solid), Hershey’s chocolate bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or York Peppermint Patties. Just remember to brush and clean your teeth afterwards as so not to hinder your orthodontic progress!

    Fruit

Nothing’s better for your overall health than a serving of fruit! Any soft fruits like bananas, peeled oranges, raspberries, or blueberries make a great snack and taste great. One of our friends at Milestone Orthodontics says that a great way to eat fruit is in an Easter smoothie! Blending up a smoothie with some vanilla ice cream, blueberries, bananas, and milk will not only be a healthy alternative, but is fun to make with a little help from your kids!

    Baked Goods

Cupcakes, cookies, and brownies are just plain delicious, easy to bake, and are loved by everybody. Dr. Matthew Milestone says that it’s great to decorate any baked goods with your kids, or try a reduced sugar or sugar free recipe! Just be sure not to use nuts in your treats, as they are surprisingly hard and can break braces.

    Non-Edibles

Instead of candy, there are lots of other things to place in Easter baskets that can make Easter morning just as special and fun! Dr. Matthew Milestone mentions that just about anything considered a “stocking stuffer” can substitute for candy; from iTunes gift cards, to movie tickets. For boys, nerf blasters, video games, sports game tickets, or Legos make a great Easter surprise. For girls, art supplies, clothing store or Starbucks gift cards, makeup, or a new phone case and some ear buds are fantastic gifts sure to make them smile!

    Family Activities

There’s no better way than to spend Easter with you family. A Milestone Orthodontics associate said that dyeing Easter eggs is a classic family event that’s sure to be great fun! It’s always nice to go out, so why not take your loved ones out for a special Easter picnic? Instead of candy, think of a special event to spend some quality family time together- something enjoyable that’ll be remembered much more than just a few seconds of munching on jellybeans!

There are tons of great ways to make sure that your family wakes up with a smile on their faces on Easter, and these are only a few. The only limit is your imagination! Dr. Matthew Milestone and the Milestone Orthodontics team wish you all a “Happy Easter!” If you’re looking for an experienced orthodontist in Paramus, NJ, they’re here for you!
